AboutDejected - Big hearted - Fragile
Vermilion’s life wasn’t always filled with such regret, pain and sadness. At least, that is what she tells herself, for now she knows better. She used to be happy, she had her friend, she had her family, even when she knows now that those were not what she thought they were. An argument sparked between her and her once, only, friend. Words were exchanged, sharp, painful and nasty things were thrown at her. She was a nuisance, a thorn in their side. Always causing them trouble. How much of this was reality? Vermilion simply does not know. Like many esk her memories are fragmented, scattered among the sands of her new home. Yet she has an inkling that these words were not truthful, said by someone who simply wanted to cause a scene, who craved attention above all else. As it turns out, she was just the easiest target, despite their years of so called friendship. The encounter drove her into the desert, the spark for her transformation. How she hated it, how she fought against it. Once a silent girl, who followed the masses, not daring to say a thing, turned bitter and resentful. She visited her home, tried to find someone, just one person who cared that she was no longer here. Yet that was not what she found. “She ran away.” They said, “Good riddance.” They went on. No one cared. And that person she called her friend? She was the loudest of them all. |
It hurts a lot. Her heart is big, for she cares so much about those she loves. too much, for she could not see how much they hurt her. And now she was alone, but not for long. Being an esk brought her one gift, she was free from the bonds of family, no longer tied down. The unease of leaving her boundary paled by what was said to her and so she explored. She saw sights she would have never seen before. Ancient forests, tall mountains, endless seas. And she met so many others, others that helped heal her heart. She found a new mother in Rift, and esk once equally thorn to shreds by violent emotions. An esk who was kind, who was patient. Rift gently helped Vermilion take down the walls she had built around her heart, showing her that what had happened was not right. She deserved to be loved, to have friends and family who cared. And thus her heart healed and she cared once again, so much, for her new friends and family.
Yet it was not meant to stay. A chance encounter. The friend that once was returned. There she was, with new friends, walking through Vermilion's boundary and just saying nastiest things. Something inside Vermilion cracked. The fire that was a constant reminder of the anger she felt exploded. The fire spread and her once friend would not make it out alive. And vermilion, Vermilion who cares so much had to do something. She saved her once friend from death, turning her into an esk. So now Vermilion is stuck, her mind in a fragile state. She caused this, caused more pain. Maybe everything that was said is true. And she can’t leave her friend now, she can't. Vermilion caused this and she has to do everything to help her friend, no matter how much it hurts her. |
Boundary
Her new home are expansive rocky foothills, filled with sand and stones. Many rock formations, giving plenty of room for her to clamber about, for vermilion enjoys perching on these tall rocks. Not that she truly calls it her home, for she wanders often. Yet she has found memories of them, for she often came here before her esk life, whenever she needed some time away from home. As such, while not her new home, she does find some comfort in the familiar rocks that are her boundary.
