AboutGuardian - Stoic - Watchful
Once they were a wolf, a proud wolf. They were a leader, a friend, sister and mother. They loved and cared for their pack until the bitter end. Yet that was not the end for them. While their pack mourned Elwyn lived on, reborn as an esk with this duty to care, to protect, instilled in them. Yet duty can blind them, for they see their new life as one of service to the frozen woods. No time for pleasantries, no time for fun and games. They must work, for there is always work to do in such a big boundary. This is why they were given another life, afterall. Each creature in need he must assist. Help guide them through the first, help those surprised by the harsh cold. This is what he must do, for it would be a waste to not live up to their new purpose. However, Elwyn likes to talk with others, however much it guilt him. Oh the shame of wasting this new life bestowed on them with such frivolities. But it would be equally shameful to not use these opportunities, to learn how others do it, to hear about strange, far away lands and stories so unlike their own. In the rare moments when the forest is quiet, when none require help nor assistance, they will search out others, for their life is a lonely one and they are still a pack animal at heart. |
Despite their curiosity and desire to contact others, this esk is a rather blunt creature. They have a caring heart, but are clouded by their sense of duty. Don’t expect much small talk from them, nor too many pleasantries. They talk duty. Emotions are not for them, those lie in the past, parts of them that are no longer there.
Pieces have been taken from them, core memories to who they once were. It’s like this for all esk, he heard, for every esk loses a part of themself. Still, the loss is strange, for they know that they once were a mother, that they had many pups, that they loved and cherished them dearly. Yet they simply can’t connect with that part of themself anymore. It’s like he witnessed these events from afar, and had others tell them of these parts of their past. It’s a strange feeling, knowing you were once so ingrained with that part of yourself yet now being unable to see why. |
Boundary
The taiga is their home, it has always been. even before their transformation into an esk it. When he still had his claws, ears and nose, he lived there. Now he protects it, helps those in need and guards it where he can.
Covered with Coniferous trees. Spruce, pines and firs. These have always been there. Their needles color the forest, their branches covered in thick snow. Bark dappled with white frost . Some rare deciduous trees loom between, yet those are rare indeed. Often small, bare with the harsh cold. Peaceful and serene, despite the work it requires, for winter is a harsh time yet one that Elwyn loves. Many animals call it their home, and he knows all of them. The birds that leave for the winter, a rare few staying the whole year. The deer that travel through, this being their home just as well as his. Bears and wolves, the rare lynx are all known to him. Even the small creatures, the mice and squirrels he knows, for he has helped them all. Summer brings new life and new colors, yet the new season drains him. It always happens, when the seasons switch. he feels less active, more sluggish and tired. The frost, the ice, the snow, it is part of him. A part of him leaves when the melt sets in, a part that only returns with the snow. As such one can imagine his distaste for the change in the snow, how it now longer stays around as long as it used to. |
